IN THE SLUMS OF KENYA PEOPLE ARE FAITHFULLY ATTENDING CHURCH GATHERINGS, DEVOTED DESPITE THE ADVERSE LIVING CONDITIONS THAT THEY LIVE UNDER. The group of precious children in the image above was taken at a Sunday School in Kenya.
There are approximately 2.5 million slum dwellers in about 200 settlements in Nairobi. Poverty is a big reality in these slums and people living here have nothing, they barely have enough to eat. Despite their living conditions, education is of great value, even to those who find their homes here. Young children start reading at the age of 4 already, learning to read in both English and Swahili. We yearn to see these young children being established in the Word of God!
Our Discover 4 Yourself Inductive Bible Studies for Kids helps young children find out for themselves what the Bible is all about—and gives them exciting ways to do it! The workbooks help teach the basic skills of Bible study for a lifetime of discovering God’s Word.
The Discover for Yourself books have become increasingly popular in Kenya, with hundreds of young children who are participating in Bible study using this fantastic resource! We would like to equip as many young children living in the slums of Kenya as we possibly can, with their own workbook.
